Founded as a Roman city, Barcelona flourishes with magnificent history in every corner. If you've ever been to Rome, Naples or Nice, you will see that the city of Barcelona possesses the same features such as narrow streets, hilly terrain, leftovers from the Romans and beautiful buildings.
However, Barcelona is utterly different from other European mediterranean cities. I'll share with you the best things to do within the city.
First of all, Barcelona is not a huge city so don't take a day pass and take the 10journey pass instead. It can last forever if you walk as much as I did! Prices for backpackers are dirt cheap especially during the low season.

When you heard the word "hospital" you probably didn't think it would be the perfect place for sightseeing. This place is a fine case of gothic architecture merged with public services building. The hospital crowned as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
You can even visit the inside of the building as well. They have magnificent garden along side with exquisite sculptures, glasses and mozaic.

9. Parc de la Ciutadella
If you have a date or plan to have a relaxing walk, this park is the best choice to do those kind of activities. I would recommend visiting this area around spring or maybe autumn for unique colors.
What would be Barcelona without its beach?!The beach equipped with public shower, toilet, free wifi and surrounded with appetizing restaurants. Moreover, if you are in the mood for a crazy nightlife experience, the beach also has stunning bars and clubs.

This is certainly one of the most famous Gaudi's legacy within the city of Barcelona. Over a hundred years ago this park was a part of Güell assignment for Gaudi to construct an estate for well-off families in the hilly part of the city (back then this area was not a big part of the city).

4. Tibidabo

Furthermore, if you like amusement parks or even hiking, you probably would like to try to visit Tibidabo Amusement Park.
A 25 mins du coeur de Barcelone se trouve Tibidabo. La vue est absolument sublime. Si vous aimez les parcs d'attraction ou la rando, vous pouvez vous rendre au parc d'attraction de Tibidabo.
3. Arc de Triomf
No, this landmark is not from Paris but Barcelona does have its own version of the Arc de Triomphe (just like many European cities actually). It was built as a main gate for the Barcelona world fair in 1888 by Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas. The location is positively fascinating to feast your eyes. If you walk down all the way to the long boulevard ahead of the Arc to the direction of Parc de la Ciutadella.
2. Casa Batlló
There are a lot of Gaudi's ornament leftovers around the nook and corner in the city of Barcelona but this one is a must visit place for sure. Located in the infamous area of Passeig de Gracia, the building stands still, charming all of the people passing...

Sagrada Familia is one of the craziest, charming and stunning architectural designs made by Gaudi. Even though the church is still in a pace of construction for more than a hundred years ago now, yet the magnetize details of the building can make you stare at it for quite a while.
